Our Featured Holiday Home –
Snipe Cottage, Portscatho, South Cornwall
NEW for 2017 – a beautifully refurbished seaside property with fabulous coastal views
This beautifully refurbished home has joined our portfolio of Cornish Properties for 2017. Located in the village of Portscatho, on the Roseland Peninsular, this small village is a true Cornish gem, the perfect setting for this three bedroom seaside house.
Here’s why we chose this pretty coastal home to be part of Cornish Seaview Cottages – be quick though, everyone will be wanting to enjoy the delights of Snipe Cottage this year…
With glorious views of the sea and Porthcurnick beach in the distance, Snipe Cottage sits in an elevated position just a short walk into the village. On long summer evenings sit on the large decking area and enjoy these far reaching coastal views. From the terrace, steps lead down to the lawned area which has a small dog proof fence surrounding it.
Recently refurbished in 2015, Snipe Cottage has a light and fresh feel to it. The new furnishings and fittings make it an extremely comfortable house to spend time in whilst retaining a very charming Cornish feel. The open sociable sitting room connects to the new large fully fitted kitchen/diner and patio doors open from the sitting room onto the terrace, so the panoramic views can be admired in comfort whatever the weather! Better still, light the wonderful wood burner and cosy up during those chilly damp winter evenings.
The three tastefully furnished bedrooms also have magnificent sea views, with two new bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs beside the master bedroom. The house has all the mod cons for recovering after a busy day on the beach, along with a peaceful mezzanine snug area above the sitting room.
Snipe Cottage is a great little find. The sloping hill from the cottage runs right down to the coastal edge, it’s only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Portscatho. Once in the village you’ll discover a choice of cafes, good pubs and lovely galleries. There is the generously stocked ‘Ralphs Food Store’, plus a nearby farm shop selling fruit, veg, cheese, plus freshly caught fish and seafood. Make the most of the excellent award winning butchers and if you stroll down to the shore when the fishing boats are returning home, have a quiet word with the skipper, you may even net a few fresh mackerel! Enjoy a Cornish pint of ale in The Plume of Feathers, a hot chocolate and slice of cake in The Boathouse or how about a gin and tonic and some freshly caught Cornish fish for supper in The Royal Standard.
Portscatho Beach is large and sandy and only a 10 minute walk from Snipe Cottage and a few minutes from the village. Venture slightly further along the coastal footpath from Portscatho and discover sandy Porthcurnick Beach to the west, or Carne and Pendower beaches in the opposite direction. If you fancy an adventure, then seek out the wonderful Hidden Hut Cafe at Porthcurnick – you won’t be disappointed!
Should you fancy travelling further afield, Truro is only 9 miles away via the scenic King Harry Ferry crossing at Philleigh. The busy cathedral town offers a range of high street shops, plus many restaurants, bars and cafes if you fancy a day out discovering the old town and the beautiful cathedral.
We love the fact that Snipe Cottage has the perfect combination of being close to all that Portscatho has to offer, yet still retaining a feel of privacy and peace. With stunning views from all the rooms, it’s a fabulous property, lovingly taken care of by the owners, who have thought of everything to make your stay there truly memorable.
