Property Details
Penkenna House is one of the original residential properties built in Crackington Haven, and enjoys an enviable position adjoining the beautiful beach that is popular with surfers, walkers and families alike. Pick up your surf board and walk straight onto the beach; sit on the stunning roof terrace and watch the sun set or enjoy lazy days on the beach or exploring the many rock pools at low tide.
Penkenna House has been carefully and sympathetically restored retaining many original features whilst incorporating modern creature comforts, which adds to its original unique nature. This artisan residence offers Unparalleled views of the stunning north Cornwall coast, boasting remains of the Ancient Jurassic Forest. From the reception hall, the large double reception room offers seating for the whole family, a feature fire place with wood burning stove, and views towards the beach; one of the sofa’s fold out to provide an additional double bed, if required. The dining room has a table with benches and chairs seating up to 8, and a large AGA provides a focal point for this room. The kitchen and separate utility room have a fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a small 2 ring electric hob in the kitchen, but the Aga in the dining room is mainly used for cooking (details of how use the AGA are included in the welcome pack). There is also a separate pantry and downstairs cloakroom. The studio room is accessed through double doors from the kitchen is an ideal place to store wetsuits, surf boards and other beach paraphernalia.
There is a double bedroom with a kingsize bed; a double bedroom with double bed; a large double bedroom with twin beds and a further bedroom with bunk beds. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor with bath tubs, wash hand basins and wc’s.
Exclusive to Penkenna House There is a be-whitching roof top terrace. This space is ideal for unwinding after a busy day at the beach, reflect and relax whilst being captivated by the gentle rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean, watching the magnicicent sunset after a memory filled day, please note that the roof top terrace is accessed from an external staircase.
In addition to the roof terrace, there are gardens to the rear of the property.
Two dogs are welcome with an additional charge of 25.00 per week per dog.

Wow, what an amazing place, an absolutely stunning location with beautiful furnishings and fittings, lovely sun room with chaise for relaxing whilst the sun is streaming through the windows and the sound of the waves crashing outside, the log burner and AGA are certainly a plus in the chiller months, Summer nights must be utterly divine, I think anyone would truly benefit from going during the winter or summer, what a fabulous place to have Christmas too, walking along the beach and rock pooling is a must, the locals say seals are often seen too.
If you are thinking of going then do it, you will not be disappointed!
The Area
What we love about the area...
Crackington Haven is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was once a small harbour importing coal and limestone and it has managed to escape any development so remains a small unspoiled, secret cove.
When the conditions are right it is a great surfing spot and there is a lifeguard during the summer holiday weeks. In the spring the cliffs are covered in heather and it is a wonderful place to see the wild flowers and hear the birdsong.
The gently sloping beach is perfect for exploring or for relaxing and although pebbly when the tide is high there is plenty of sand for building castles once the tide heads out. Crackington really is a special place, perfect for a family holiday away from the crowds.
The Cabin Café in the village across the road from the beach serves lovely local produce and homemade goodies. The family pub, The Coombe Barton Inn, serves delicious food and beverages; surf boards, wetsuits and beach items can be hired or bought at the beach front.
Local Things to do (as advised by the tourist office):
Take a wooded valley walk inland from the car park and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and wildlife.
Take a walk North to Pencarrow Point and climb up to Cornwall’s highest cliff at 735 feet.
Discover the inspiring parish of St Gennys: churches, ancient farms, historical sites & buildings and tales of shipwrecks.
Observe the famous zig-zag folds and faults in rock formations formed millennia ago, from black shale, sandstone and quartz veins.
As the tide goes out see what you can find while rock pooling.
For those looking to travel a little further afield, the lovely towns of Boscastle, Bude and Tintagel are all within a reasonable drive and offer a wide array of cafe’s, bars and restaurants, as well as independent retailers offering locally sourced produce and merchandise.

For a tasty lunch or snack, try the Boscastle Farm Shop, and if you happen to be there on a Sunday, the roast dinners are fantastic!
If you’re planning a day on the beach, make sure you drop into the Boscastle Bakery to stock up on amazing pasties and cakes.
Finally, for an evening meal to remember, try The Rocket Store on Valency Row with lovely seasonal dishes and a great wine selection.
Bude is located approximately 8 miles away, and has a wide range of eateries, catering for all pockets. In no particular order, why not try:
The Coffee Pot on Morwenna Terrace is a great place for a late breakfast or tasty lunch, with a wide range of panini’s and filled sandwiches – and of course, great coffee.
For something a little different, try The Bank Tapas Bar, which serves great tapas and has a good selection of vegan dishes.
Sea Fever on Summerleaze Crescent offers a great fresh seafood menu, with lots of seasonal offerings.
