Cornish Seal Sanctuary – The Seal Pup Season – January-March
Now is the time to visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and discover what it does best – rescue, rehabilitate and re-release stranded seal pups. Around 40-60 pups are rescued each year during the colder months and taken here to the leading Seal Rescue Centre in Europe. The seal hospital and nursery pools are usually full at this time of the year, so it’s the perfect time to visit.
The sanctuary is a charity that rescue grey seals and pups from around the Cornish coast with September to February being the busiest time during pup season.
This is a great family day out and the perfect opportunity to learn about the conservation work that happens. Along with all of the important tasks that the sanctuary carries out 365 days of the year.
There is plenty to interest the children, with a play area, pup pools, they can even book to have breakfast with a seal! Have a go at feeding the Sea Lions. Head into the new VR room and with a pair of VR goggles be immersed into the day in the life of the conservation work, as well as a few sneaky glimpses from previous rescues from the coast.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is in the small village of Gweek, close to Helston so only a 20 minute drive from The Garden Apt, Acton Castle, Rosdugeon.
