What we like about this property...

Woodlands is the perfect base from which to explore the North Cornwall coast. We love that it is so convenient for Newquay Airport, making it an idea short break destination with regular flights from London Gatwick and Stanstead airports and flight times of less than one hour.

It is a large comfortable family country home but so close to those famous surfing beaches! It is also unusual to have a property so near the coast with such an extensive garden, which makes it perfect in our view, to share with another family or just to enjoy the space!

“Great, spacious house in a highly desirable location as flew in to Newquay. The house is well situated and five minutes drive from Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth beaches. Padstow and Newquay are only 15 minutes away. The house is furnished to a high standard and the garden is just spectacular - perfect for family and friends. I would highly recommend this house as a great to stay and explore beautiful Cornwall”.

Dr S. Chandran,

“A warm and welcoming home from home, with a wonderful woodland garden (with absolutely amazing sunsets). The property is very clean, well maintained and well stocked. The en-suite rooms are large with really good power showers. The house is centrally located in a lovely village environment and easily accessible to local amenities and tourist attractions. The lovely Mawgan Porth beach is only 5 minutes drive away as is Watergate Bay. We would come back every year . We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it”.

Jon and Lisa,

“We had such a great time at Woodlands. The location is excellent, but a car is desirable. You are 5 minutes’ drive from our favourite beach Watergate Bay which was great for body boarding and surf lessons. You can even fly into Newquay airport and walk across to Woodlands (we really were pleasantly surprised that the airport noise was minimal). The house itself is extremely spacious with a kid’s den downstairs and more grown up lounge upstairs, which worked very well. The garden is a tranquil space to relax, with a view through the trees to the ocean on a clear day and a lovely wooded area which was safe and secure for kids and dogs to play in. Communication was very quick with the host and the house was very clean and the beds comfortable! Woodlands is equipped with everything you need, a very quiet location but near the beach and lovely restaurants such as Catch in Mawgan Porth. I would not hesitate to recommend Woodlands for your perfect stay in Cornwall. You will not be disappointed, and we will be booking for next year.”

The Area

What we love about the area...

Woodlands is ideally located for fantastic surfing beaches, family friendly beaches, an endless array of amazing restaurants, bars and cafe’s and some of the best scenery in the world.

The property is located barely 5 minutes drive from Watergate Bay which has over two miles of golden sand at low tide, stretching towards Newquay, and out to sea enormous waves come in from the Atlantic providing a spectacular sight and a popular surfing and kitesurfing spot.
Fistral Beach is one of the world’s top surfing destinations, backed by high cliffs and sand dunes, making it a playground for hundreds of enthusiasts who flock to the beach to get a fix of the big waves. All the big UK surf competitions take place here including the Famous Night Surf, Boardmasters Surf Championships and National Surf Championships, so be sure to check your diary to see what’s on.
North Cornwall has become one of the best known destinations for foodies, with a wide range of eateries in the area. Here are just a few of our favourites:

For the traditional Cornish Cream Tea, try St. Mawgan Tea Room, which is a ten minute walk away, or try Scott & Babs for a tasty pizza or an evening drink (you will need to book early and in advance). For a hearty sandwich, try Hawkeye’s Cafe.

Padstow has become one of the UK’s premier destinations for foodies, and it’s easy to see why. You have to try Rick Steins Café, with its ever-changing menu of seasonal fish. For a hearty breakfast, why not try Ben’s Crib Box Café or if you fancy somewhere different, Bin Two on the South Quay is the perfect place to watch the world go by, and it’s dog friendly too. If Italian is your cuisine of choice, Embers Wood Fired Pizza in Market Place could be the place to visit. Other restaurants worth trying include Green’s Of Padstow, Rafferty’s Café & Wine Bar and Prawn on the Lawn.
Newquay also has many different cuisines on offer, such as Estrella Morada Bar de Tapas, which is both lively and reasonably priced. For a evening to remember, The Fish House is hard to beat. The Fish Bar on Morfa Hall Cliff Road offers some of the best fish around or for a traditional Sunday Roast, 12 Beach Road is well worth trying.
The South West Coastal Path offers over 630 miles of stunning scenery, but you don’t have to walk it all! There are dozens of circular walks that start within a few miles of Woodlands. There are many challenging golf courses within reasonable driving distance too, including Newquay Golf Club, St. Enodoc Golf Club and the courses at Holywell Bay.
