Surfside sits right on the edge of Porth Beach.
Porth Beach is beautifully positioned on the north coast of Cornwall between the Newquay beaches and Watergate Bay. This lovely sandy beach is popular with families due to its expanse of golden sands, making it ideal for children to play and build sandcastles.
Set in a deep inlet, Porth is a narrow beach with gently sloping sand. The long tidal drop reveals many beautiful rock pools and some fascinating sea life; in addition, due to its position being protected by headlands on both sides, it is very sheltered.
Porth Island to the east of the beach, accessed by a narrow footbridge, is a spectacular spot for photography and storm watching in the winter. At the end of the island is a blow hole visible at mid tide, especially on windy days. Trevelgue Head, also known as Porth Island, is one of Cornwall’s finest ancient monuments.
Across the road from the beach are several cafes and a pub. Cafe Coast sells beach style food, drinks, cream teas and ice creams to takeaway, use their cosy beach huts to eat in or admire the view from the garden. New to Porth Beach is Roo’s Beach, a fresh, lifestyle shop selling beach wear and towels designed in store.
It is important to remember that surfing is not permitted during the summer season at this lifeguarded beach and there is a dog ban from Easter to September. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty between 10am and 6pm throughout the summer months.
